Support Program


The Dancer Training Support Program is implemented to assist dancers, choreographers, and rehearsal directors in financing a portion of their dance training costs. It aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of dance professionals in Quebec.


Program Objectives:

  • Maintain the employability of dancers by promoting their continuous training
  • Improve the physical condition of dancers and reduce the risk of injuries
  • Valorize the profession of dancers, choreographers, and rehearsal directors
  • Improve the socio-economic status of dance professionals
  • Reduce the risk of injuries
To benefit from the program, follow the steps below:
 
  1. Check your eligibility

    Review the terms of the Dancer Training Support Program.
     

  2. Make sure you are a member of the RQD

    To qualify for the Dancer Training Support Program, you must be a member of RQD. Become a member or renew your membership now!

  3. Register

    Fill out the eligibility application form for the Dancer Training Support Program via the RQD membership form above.

    Attention! You need to do this every year to benefit from the program.
     

  4. Claim your reimbursements

    Fill out the online claim form in your member area no later than three (3) months after the payment date of the activities listed on your receipts.

 
 

Who is eligible for the Program?

To be eligible for the Dancer Training Support Program, dancers, choreographers, and rehearsal directors must be active members of RQD. Admission requirements may vary depending on the membership category. They must also provide the required supporting documents, such as diplomas or proof of professional engagement. What types of training are reimbursed?

The program reimburses expenses related to various types of dance training, including:

  • Dance classes and workshops
  • Subscriptions and dance training programs

Trainings can be attended in-person or online and can come from Quebec, Canada and anywhere in the world, EXCEPT if they already receive a subsidy from Emploi-Québec.

 

What are the requirements for receipts to be eligible for reimbursement?

Receipts must be official, detailed, and validated by the organization or professional offering them.

 

Which expenses are not refundable?

Fees for fitness assessments, studio rentals, or training equipment are not refundable.
Voluntary contributions will not be refunded.

 

What is the maximum amount reimbursed?

The reimbursed amount depends on the membership category in RQD. Here are the approximate reimbursement amounts:

  • For apprentice members: Reimbursement is 50% of the training cost (before taxes), up to a maximum of $600 per year, depending on available funds;
  • For professional individual or corporate members: Reimbursement is also 50% of the training cost (before taxes), up to a maximum of $700 per year, depending on available funds.

The RQD reserves the right to modify the reimbursement scales throughout the year, depending on the financial resources available.

Coverage for Injuries or Accidents

Dancers admitted to the Dancer Training Support Program are protected by CNESST in case of injury or accident during training that is not part of an employment contract, is supervised and specialized in dance, and is conducted in-person in Quebec.

Read section 7 of the program terms and conditions, under which CNESST covers you within the framework of the program.


The terms of this agreement are provided by the Regulation respecting the implementation of the Agreement on the professional dance training program

If you are an admitted performer in the program and have suffered a work-related accident during training that is not part of an employment contract, is supervised and specialized in dance, and is conducted in-person in Quebec, consult the Procedure with CNESST page or contact RQD immediately at info@quebecdanse.org to find out how to submit a claim to CNESST. Your request will be treated confidentially.

 

The Dancer Training Support Program of RQD receives financial support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts de Montréal, and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
