The Regroupement québécois de la danse brings together and represents individuals as well as professional organizations working in dance, with the objectives of contributing to the advancement and recognition of choreographic art and helping improve practice conditions in dance.

Individual members

Any individual working in dance in a professional context.

Performers, choreographers, teachers, rehearsal directors, cultural workers, researchers, designers, accompanying musicians, and other professions related to dance.
 

General Eligibility Conditions

Completed professional training, membership or renewal application with payment of the membership fee.


Specific Eligibility Conditions

  • Performers
    Recognized by peers and participation in at least eight paid performances in the past five years.

  • Choreographers
    Recognized by peers, creation of at least two paid works that have been presented and performed by paid performers, totaling at least 50 minutes.

  • Teachers
    Accumulation of at least 180 hours of paid teaching.

  • Rehearsal Directors
    Recognized by peers, collaboration on at least two paid works that have been presented and performed by paid performers.

  • Designers
    Recognized by peers, collaboration on at least two paid works that have been presented and performed by paid performers.

  • Researchers, dramaturgs, cultural workers, accompanying musicians, and other professions related to dance
    Recognized by peers, accumulation of at least 180 paid hours in the field.


Supporting Documents

  1. A detailed CV (education, employers, activities, dance performances, etc.).
  2. A copy of the dance diploma or a relevant diploma.
  3. For individuals without a diploma, a detailed record of the training path.
  4. One supporting document from the following options:
    • Contracts or letters of agreement establishing eligibility conditions.
    • Recognition by peers (letters, contracts, awards, etc.).
    • Any other relevant document to justify the professional path.

Any individual engaged in a professional dance endeavor, but who does not meet the eligibility requirements of a professional individual member.

Performers, choreographers, teachers, rehearsal directors, cultural workers, researchers, designers, accompanying musicians, and other professions related to dance.

 

General Eligibility Conditions

Have completed professional training or a detailed educational path in their specialty, complete a membership application, and pay the membership fee.


Specific Eligibility Conditions

Possess relevant experience in the absence of a diploma or detailed educational path,
OR be recognized by peers for performers and choreographers.

Supporting Documents

New Membership
  • Detailed CV with relevant information based on the requested sub-category.
  • Copy of the dance diploma or a relevant disciplinary field diploma.
  • Documentation of the detailed educational path for individuals without a diploma.
  • Exemption from academic documentation for teachers in school environments who are members of AQEDÉ.
Renewal
  • Complete the renewal form.
  • Pay the annual membership fee.
  • Provide a detailed and up-to-date CV.

Associate individual members of the RQD include students in professional training and former members who have retired from dance.

Student: a person enrolled in professional dance training.
Heart Member: a former member of RQD who has ceased their dance activities or has professionally redirected themselves.

 

Eligibility Conditions

  • Complete a membership or renewal application on the prescribed form and pay the membership fee.

Supporting Documents

First-time membership
  1. Student: Proof of enrollment in an RQD-eligible dance school.
  2. Heart Member: No supporting documents required.

Membres corporatifs

Any not-for-profit organization working in the professional field of dance, whether by calling on the services of dance professionals or by offering them services.

Professional dance association, company, specialized presenter, multidisciplinary presenter, higher-level dance school, university dance department, support and service organization.

General Eligibility Conditions

  • Be a legally constituted corporation in Quebec.
  • Have its headquarters in Quebec.
  • Designate two delegates.
  • Complete a membership application and pay the membership fee.


Specific Eligibility Conditions

  • Companies, specialized presenters, and support and service organizations
    Be supported by at least one funding body for regular activities.
  • Multidisciplinary presenters
    Be supported by a municipality or funding body for regular presenting activities.

Supporting Documents

New Membership
  • Letters patent, bylaws of the corporation, or constitutive documents.
  • Resolution of the board of directors or written confirmation from the management designating the delegates.
  • Financial statements from the previous year (except for certain entities).
  • List of achievements or description of activities in the past year.
  • Proof of obtaining a grant for certain categories.
  • Proof of obtaining a grant and certification of the number of enrolled students for higher-level dance schools.
  • Proof of professional status for all members of professional dance associations.
Renewal
  • Renewal form.
  • Payment of the annual membership fee.
  • Constitutive documents and/or resolution of the board of directors if any modifications have been made.

Dance association, CEGEP offering a dance program, Dance-study program dance school, Specialized dance school, Network of presenters.

 

Eligibility Conditions (corporate entities)

  • Legally constituted under a Quebec or federal law.
  • Designate a person as a representative.
  • Complete a membership or renewal application with payment of the membership fee.

Supporting Documents 

First-time membership
  • Certificate of incorporation and bylaws of the nonprofit organization (or description of the mandate for other corporate entities).
  • Brief description of activities.
  • Specialized dance schools: proof of subsidy.
  • Dance-study program dance schools: proof of the existence of a pedagogical direction and the provision of 12 hours of dance classes per week.
Renewal
  • Complete the renewal form.
  • Payment of the annual membership fee.  
  • Provide the constitutive documents only if they have been modified.
